Most people assume that when you are new you are at a disadvantage.

However, in what I've come to realized is that some of the most successful people I’ve helped get started in affiliate marketing (or any other online business I’ve been associated with) were the ones who knew the least?

It’s true. 

Maybe part of it was luck, but I think a lot of it had to do with the lack of marketing baggage, self-limiting beliefs and post-business failure PTSD that a lot of seasonal online marketers deal with. (Those are the individuals who either walk into a new opportunity with a jaded perspective or often feel like if they don’t succeed then it must be a scam). 

The other day I was talking to a mom who had zero experience with any online business. She heard about Affiliate Marketing and came across my e-Book and reached out to me to ask some questions before she joined the 15-Day Challenge.

The last work from home opportunity she did was AVON and that was all person to person, so this was a whole different beast.

She had a little experience with social media, Instagram and Pinterest to be exact, and she decided that if she was going to give it a try those were the platforms she was going to use.

I agreed with her. 

Yes, it is true that you CAN become successful building your Affiliate marketing business with little to no startup costs. There are thousands who just use what they’ve got until they can expand their marketing efforts.  

She understood the concept of building email automations and long term marketing strategies, but she wasn’t there yet, and she didn’t want to let her lack of knowledge in that area stop her from getting started. 

Super smart if you ask me!

I have to admit, I was envious of her optimistic spirit. I came into this industry with marketing baggage and I had to unlearn some old habits that were making me over complicate the process. 

The truth is, When you’re new you don’t have any old habits to break.

You’re often most eager to pay attention to all the training modules, follow the simple directions and just get to work. 

The optimism of a new marketer and their curiosity are the fuel that gets them started like a jet plane, and once they start to gain some experience under their belt, their knowledge is what keeps them building their business for the long haul. 

I felt that way when I became a mom for the first time.

I was so nervous. I read so many books and got endless amounts of advice, but nothing can prepare you until you are in the trenches. After a few weeks I found my rhythm and by the time kid #2 came around, I felt like a seasoned pro. 

Building a passive income business is kind of the same concept. 

It’s intimidating at first.

You’re putting in all this effort creating content and sharing online, sometimes to a brand new platform with zero followers and you start to second guess yourself. But consistency not only builds your marketing muscle, it also helps those watching you build trust in what you’re putting out there. 

You don’t know who is watching or following you, so never give up too early. 

People often think that building a digital marketing business is hard. 

Don't get me wrong, it does take work, but it's not impossible to get started.
